I’m sorry to post a link to surveillance capitalist YouTube but you need to watch this speech by Hannah Gadsby in full. In under eight minutes, not only does she give a masterclass in intersectional feminism but also a biting critique of the hypocrisy at the heart of neoliberalism.

btw the only reason tumblr is removing porn is because apple blocked their app for nsfw content. if you were still on the fence about whether or not walled gardens have a negative effect on free speech

Using economic anti-incentives to influence or impose certain behaviors is political arrogance. Splitting people in half, those who can afford a life style that destroys the planet and those who can't.

Even when the cause is a good one, the path defines the outcome

So there was a big protest today by schoolkids who blew off school and marched in the streets over government inaction on climate change.

The Prime Minister has said they should be less activist and focus on their schooling instead.

I just saw this sign. These kids are great.

I was thinking of upgrading to #protonmail plus. But there is still missing an important part. Although they ve released the source code of the web client, the android app and the desktop bridge are still closed. Probably they have their reasons for not doing so. But e2e encryption without an end client that you truly control implies that you totally trust the app provider. This is a contradiction of e2e philosophy, designed to offer secure communications even in untrustworthy environments.

@valvin @loic @indie I suggest we have the Saudi royal family sponsor FOSDEM. How about some neo-Nazi sponsorship? Is there anywhere you would draw a line at and say “I’m not taking that money?” If so, why are you not drawing that line at surveillance capitalism and corporations that exist by violating our human rights?
