@comzeradd All of these reasons are excellent. Here are some other:
1) Facebook is engineered so you spend your time there, not being happy outside or getting work done.
2) Facebook shows lots of meaningless contents (like "friend X has commented on group Y") to people being logged in for a long time, because it shows they're spending a lot of time on their computer, in order to encourage their procrastination, their very mental health degradation, so they spend more time there.
@comzeradd seems like Facebook voluntarily being part of the NSA's PRISM project for mass surveillance is a huge omission
@comzeradd I would love to.
But unfortunately I am the admin of some sites that nobody else wants to curate. 🙄
@comzeradd mark Suckerborg is fuckin evil
@comzeradd @nipos jup, stop using facebook, hostet on facebook
@comzeradd the very nature of being commercial, centralized and non-free social network would soon or late cause these
So, a religious "man made climate change" fanatic calls those of us that reject his baseless views "deniers". As in "holocaust deniers"! And, not only that, but he tries to command other people as what to do in their social life! And that attitude gets "likes" and "re-posts". Certainly you deserve each other. What a joke!
@comzeradd I deleted my facebook account: it was easy and nobody ever told me to come back.
I also don't use Whatsapp but every fucking day people pressure me to register. It happens at work, with friends and some other social occasions.
I can't make almost anybody to use Matrix/Riot or Signal. There's some people on Telegram, though.
@comzeradd I'm sure it's a fine web page, but if I can't see the content without js, well...
@comzeradd Aye, decentralised social media is great, and desirable, but on Mastodon for instance there are a hell of a lot of computery type people and a real lack of social/political commentators. Basically, I find more of what I want to read on FB and Twitter - because that's where those people are.
I guess the decentralised platforms need to encourage more varied content and to also reach out on the usual ad-verse platforms to get more people to ditch them.
Great reasons. However it's also the best marketing platform (because of those reasons). I am exploring other platforms for marketing, until then...
Proposal: I'd like to change the framing.
Do not say "Stop using Facebook"
but say "Stop working for Facebook"
because every "user" in fact is working for facebook by delivering /providing very personal data 24/7 - unsalaried.
And he/she is more used than using.
@comzeradd Agreed! After signing the day it was opened I thought it would be a good thing. how wrong I was. My account was hacked three times in the last six months.
so many Reasons and it is still hard to get People to other, better Places like this here. Hope it will change someday.
